Watermelon in January? So what. It’s naturally sweet, and perfect for cocktails. The sugars in most fruits have a lower calorie count than artificially flavored mixers, and turn a good cocktail, into a great cocktail. By muddling a few of your favorite fresh and naturally sweet fruits, you won’t need to add anything other than your favorite spirit. I’ve used vodka here but the calories per ounce for rum, gin, and whiskey is very similar, and just as good.
Watermelon Reviver (105 Calories)
1.5 ounces Grey Goose Vodka (96 calories)
1 ounce watermelon juice (9 calories)
Muddle fresh chunks of watermelon with the vodka, then shake hard with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a thin slice of watermelon.
Skinny Berry Martini (100 Calories)
1.5 ounces Grey Goose Vodka (96 calories)
½ ounce blackberry juice (2 calories)
½ ounce raspberry juice (2 calories)
Muddle the berries together until a juice forms and the fruit is reduced to a pulp. Strain the juice into a shaker and add the vodka and ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with fresh berries.
